Kadoorie Beach

EPD's annual water quality ranking in 2014 Fair
Primary pollution mode Multiple sources
Major factor determining beach water quality --

This small beach favoured by regular swimmers usually has fair water quality. Unlike its neighbours on the east (Golden and Cafeteria, which have strong correlation between water quality and tide level), correlation analysis reveals a weak dependency of water quality on tide level at Kadoorie. Being slightly enclosed, the beach is influenced by local sources such as the nearby Tuen Mun typhoon shelter and the Tuen Mun fish market. This leads to complicated water quality trends. Moreover, water quality at Kadoorie is significantly poorer during wet season. This indicates the presence of non-point source pollution of bacteria.
