Major factor determining beach water quality

Tide level, rainfall

Pollution mode of Cafeteria New is very similar to its
immediate neighbour - Golden beach. Beach water quality here
is statistically correlated with tide level. Worse water
quality is usually found during a high tide condition,
suggesting that effluent from nearby submarine outfalls (e.g. Pillar Point Sewage Treatment works) has been brought in by tidal current.
Rainfall appears to be another important parameter governing
changes in water quality, since violation in water quality
objective usually happens in July and August.
