Fish Culture Zone Description
O Pui Tong (OPT) Fish Culture Zone is located at the eastern side of Kat O (Crooked Island) in the inner Mirs Bay. It is surrounded by the crook-shaped Crooked Island and Yeung Chau. Together with the fact that it is on the opposite side of the Kat O village (west side), it got its name O Pui Tong, meaning a pond at the back of the fish village. Due to its geometry, weak tidal currents and flushing, pollutants can be easily trapped in the “pond” making this area is quite sensitive to the accumulation of pollutants.
Next to O Pui Tong is Double Haven (Yan Chau Tong) Marine Park, which is famous for its projecting headlands, sand pits and reddish rock cliffs.
