Fish Culture Zone Description
Sham Wan (SW) Fish Culture Zone is located at Chek Keng Hau, the southern part of Long Harbour. AFCD deployed 10 artificial reefs at SW to serve as bio-filters to improve water quality in March 2007. The artificial reef provide a suitable environment for spawning fish and filter feeders which can act as biofilters to remove organic waste and improve the water quality. It is estimated that the 10 artificial reefs can filter up to 6000 cubic meters of seawater per day.
