Fish Culture Zone Description
Kau Sai (KS) Fish Culture Zone is one of the first two fish culture zones in authorized recreational fishing scheme in 2002. Under the scheme, mariculturists can apply for authorization to open their fish farm raft for public fishing. However, the agreement should not violate the environmental standards and the normal mariculture operations. 11 fish culture zones, with over 30 fish farm rafts joined this scheme.
In 2002, AFCD also designed a number of artifical reefs in order to improve the water quality in the fish culture zone. The artifical reefs provide a suitable environment for spawning fish and acts as biofilters to remove organic waste.
